Tasha Courtney

I've been following Tasha Courtney for quite some time now, and I'm stoked to have gotten an interview with her! I found her shortly after I found Arsenic Magazine on Snapchat, and she quickly became my favorite of their models. Something about her is just so adorable, and her smile literally makes you melt inside. Her Snapchat is also so light-hearted. You really have no choice but to fall in love with her, and not to mention, her work is simply amazing! Imagine taking the adorable girl next door, and making her sexy as all hell. That's Tasha in a nutshell! Here's the interview:

OTC: What’s your name?

TC: Tasha Courtney

OTC: How old are you?

TC: That's not a question you should ever ask a lady!!  ;)

OTC: How did you get into modeling?

TC: Started as a baby - modeling socks and Pampers lol!  Just kinda stuck.

OTC: Who takes most of your pictures?

TC: There's no one photographer I work with more than anyone else.  I do have a few favorite photogs though.

OTC: Are you signed to an agency?

TC: Yes, Osbrink in LA and Brand Models in OC.

OTC: Where are you from originally?

TC: Kentucky

OTC: What’s your strongest memory of your childhood?

TC: We spent a lot of time at my grandma's house growing up.  I loved it there.  She was so amazing.  I loved the smell of her kitchen and of the blankets on her couches.  Every once in a while I'll get a whiff of those smells and it instantly takes me back.  Her yard was huge.  We spent a lot of time running around, climbing trees and playing hide and seek.  Her house was so cool too - lots of secret doors and stuff to get into.  <3

OTC: If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

TC: That's super tough question!!  I'd like to try it all.  Backpack the world for a few years.

OTC: Do you travel a lot?

TC: A fair amount.  I love to travel.  Always down for more.

OTC: Which country that you’ve been to is your favorite and why?

TC: Costa Rica.  Sun and good vibes.  :)

OTC: Do you go to school? If so, what are you studying?

TC: Went to school for Fashion Design.

OTC: What has been your favorite photoshoot/campaign so far?

TC: Oh that's impossible to answer!!  They're all so different!  I've shot a couple cool commercials, had some fun fitness campaigns, been fake married a few times - they're all cool!!  I shot a really cool cosmetics campaign recently that I'm super stoked to see the images from!!  I am a sucker for a great location though!  I love shooting outdoors.  The wilderness makes me happy.

OTC: Is having a good connection with the photographer important to you?

TC: It's soooo necessary!

OTC: Who is your favorite photographer and why?

TC: I just recently discovered @keslertran and @purienne_.  I think they're both so great.

OTC: Do you have a special ritual you do before or after a photoshoot?

TC: No carbs the day before.  And I like to stretch while I'm shooting too.

OTC: Have you made any friends in the modeling industry? How do you help each other?

TC: Yeah, a ton.  Most of my girlfriends are models.  When you spend a lot of time working together and seeing each other at castings and such, it just comes naturally.  Honestly, I wouldn't be anywhere without them.  I can count on my girlfriends to refer me to jobs, photographers, and producers.  Every great agency I've been with in my adult years has happened because someone recommended me.  Good friends know that helping each other is beneficial to all of us.  There's a spirit of abundance with my model girlfriends that I really appreciate.  It breeds more love and abundance.

OTC: Do you practice poses or do they just come naturally to you?

TC: I used to spend a lot of time in high school practicing poses and faces in the mirror.  And dance moves too!!

OTC: What’s the craziest thing you’ve done to get the perfect shot?

TC: Couldn't tell you.  Plenty of dangerous things, that's for sure.

OTC: What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you on set?

TC: I had an underwater shoot once where I was wearing a huge gown with a train.  It was soooo hard to swim with all that extra weight.  I really thought I was going to drown the whole time!

OTC: Who is your favorite model at the moment and why?

TC: I like Sara Sampaio a lot.  And Taylor Hill.

OTC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

TC: Doing a bunch more traveling!!  Maybe hosting a travel show?!

OTC: Professionally, what’s your goal?

TC: I like what I'm doing now a ton.  The only thing I'd like to do more of is travel.  I'd like to maybe write for a travel blog, get better at photography and travel the world taking pictures.  I'm not too set in stone on where I'd like to go.  I'm just doing things that make me happy and following the breadcrumbs.  ;)

OTC: Tell me about the editing process for your Instagram photos

TC: Well, photographers hate when you edit their photos, and a lot of my pics are pro pics, so I just put those up as they are!  As for selfies, slap like a 10% lux or brightness on it and call it a day!  I find people like photos better when they don't have too much of a filter on them.  On Snapchat, I love that bluish filter though!!

OTC: What’s it like working with Arsenic Magazine?

TC: It's a lot of fun!  The team is full of some really wonderful people.  It's true that they're very much a family.  :)

OTC: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

TC: Coffee!!

OTC: Tell me about your diet and workout routine

TC: I try my best to eat minimal processed foods, minimal sugars, and minimal animal products.  I do LOVE noodles though.  As for workout, I hike more than anything else, but I do try to go yoga once a week if I can.

OTC: What are 5 things you can’t live without?

TC: I mean, I hate to say it, but I do kinda need my cell phone. Besides that, I think dry shampoo is a great invention, and I'd go nuts if I didn't have coconut oil to moisturize.  I guess a good pair of sneakers is practical.  And of course I couldn't live without my dog!!

OTC: What superpower would you have and why?

TC: I guess fly?? I'd save so much money on air travel!!

OTC: What’s your scariest experience?

TC: I've had a few scary experiences but I think they've all made me a stronger, smarter person!!

OTC: Are you an early bird, or a night owl?

TC: Early to bed, late to rise.  #sleepyhead

OTC: Sun or snow?

TC: SUN

OTC: Boats or jet skis?

TC: Jet skis.  I hate boats.  I get motion sickness.

OTC: Dresses or skirts?

TC: Dresses.  I like to make my life as simple as possible.  One article of clothing vs two...  Easy choice.

OTC: Books or movies?

TC: Books

OTC: Hugs or kisses?

TC: Hugs

OTCSilver or gold?

TC: Gold

OTC: Singing or dancing?

TC: DANCING.  I'm a terrible singer.

OTC: Tattoos or piercings?

TC: I like both.

OTC: Money or fame?

TC: Money

OTC: Washing dishes or doing laundry?

TC: Ugh, neither.

OTC: Cooking or eating?

TC: Eating, obviously.  There's only two things I like to cook:  Cincinnati style veggie chili in the crock pot, and bourbon balls.  Don't ask me to make anything else.  If it takes more than 5 mins to prep I'm not interested.  Can it be cooked in the microwave?  Perfect.

OTC: Spicy or mild?

TC: SPICY

OTC: Grammy or Oscar?

TC: Oscar

OTC: Long or short hair?

TC: Long

OTC: Netflix or chill?

TC: Isn't that the same thing?

OTC: Wine or beer?

TC: Wine

OTC: What’s your favorite drink?

TC: Spicy ginger ale

OTC: Do you go clubbing a lot?

TC: No

OTC: What’s your favorite shot and why?

TC: I hate shots.  I'll drink whatever you hand me, but I'm basically just gonna not breathe and choke it down as quickly as possible.

OTC: Would you ever buy a guy a drink at a club/bar?

TC: Definitely!  If I accidentally spilled his!

OTC: Tell me about your craziest night out

TC: I'm doing my best to erase it from my memory.

OTC: What do you do when you’re Off The Clock?

TC: Relax.  I'm such a hedonist.

OTC: What’s the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

TC: I went to Mexico with a bunch of strangers once.

OTC: Have you ever been skinny dipping?

TC: Yes

OTC: Are you single?

TC: Nope, taken!

OTC: What does your dream date night consist of?

TC: Food and wine and snuggles!  I'll be the little spoon.

OTC: What’s the most important quality of your dream man?

TC: Kind and considerate.  Someone who values and appreciates me.  Someone who can make me laugh.  :)

OTC: Where can people find you?
