OTC: What’s your name?

MAG: Magdalene Anastasia Groves

OTC: How old are you?

MAG: I am 23 years old

OTC: How did you get into modeling?

MAG: I was scouted on the soccer field, and then a friend of mine sent photos of me into a local agency in Dallas!

OTC: Who takes most of your pictures?

MAG: Honestly, my pictures are taken by a variety of photographers. I have traveled so much within the years I have been modeling, therefore, I have worked with people all over the world. This is the first time in a while that I have been based in one city for over two months!

OTC: Are you signed to an agency?

MAG: Yes, multiple. My Mother Agency is in Dallas Texas. The Campbell Agency.

OTC: How did you get into acting?

MAG: A few different people approached me to start acting due to my personality and my natural ability to play to the camera. It is fairly new to me, but I enjoy the challenge to dig deeper.

OTC: Where are you from originally?

MAG: I was born in Lakeland, Florida, however my family moved us to Texas when I was very young, so I consider myself a Texan!

OTC: What’s your strongest memory of your childhood?

MAG: Playing with barbies!

OTC: If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

MAG: That is a tough question. As of right now, I would probably move to Australia!

OTC: Do you travel a lot?

MAG: Yes, I love to travel and thankfully my career offers many opportunities to do so!

OTC: Which country that you’ve been to is your favorite and why?

MAG: Japan! I lived in Tokyo for two months and loved being there. The way of life, as well as the beauty of the shrines and temples, and of course the fresh food - sushi!

OTC: Do you go to school? If so, what are you studying?

MAG: I finished two years of schooling and plan to go back and finish soon. I would love to graduate with either a business management degree or a marketing degree.

OTC: What has been your favorite photoshoot/campaign so far?

MAG: I filmed a two day shoot for Lotte Duty Free campaign during my stay in South Korea, and although the hours were long, I had so much fun!

OTC: Is having a good connection with the photographer important to you?

MAG: Yes, a good connection is very important.

OTC: Who is your favorite photographer and why?

MAG: I admire so many photographers, but I would love to shoot with is Mario Testino

OTC: Do you have a special ritual you do before or after a photoshoot?

MAG: The night before a photoshoot I make sure to sleep enough, and I add a few extra steps to my beauty regimen, such as adding a mixture of  essential oils to restore my skin by morning.

OTC: Have you made any friends in the modeling industry? How do you help each other?

MAG: Yes, I have made many friends in the industry! For starters, we understand each other. We understand why we eat healthy and are sometimes strict with ourselves, and we do our best to keep each other motivated and to stay focused on any goals we might have, both in or out of the industry.

OTC: Do you practice poses or do they just come naturally to you?

MAG: Overall it has come very natural to me. However, there is always something to learn, or advice given to access a certain expression, and encouragement to try something different with your body language.

OTC: What’s the craziest thing you’ve done to get the perfect shot?

MAG: Twist my body into what feels like a pretzel! Climb to a few high points and sit or lean on the edge of big rocks. I have also had to fake fly... That was interesting!

OTC: What’s the craziest thing that’s ever happened to you on set?

MAG: The power going out? Haha! Oddly nothing crazy has really happened... I don't have any cool animal stories... yet!

OTC: Would you rather model swimsuits or lingerie?

MAG: Swimsuit, because that usually means I can get to soak up some sunshine!

OTC: Who is your favorite model at the moment and why?

MAGCandice Swanepoel. She seems to travel a lot outside of work, which I love to do also, and she has little curves that show a healthy, womanly figure in the modeling world.

OTC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

MAG: In 5 years I see myself married, having a house in Austin, TX with the means to travel, possibly still modeling, and hopefully involved in event planning.

OTC: Professionally, what’s your goal?

MAG: Within my professional modeling career I hope to work with some big name beauty brands, as well lingerie brands such as Victoria's Secret.

OTC: Tell me about the editing process for your Instagram photos

MAG: I like to leave most candid photos 'as is,' with a little brightness and contrast tweaking. However if I am to use a filter, my current favorites are Clarendon, Gingham, Lark and Inkwell.

OTC: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

MAG: I drink a cup or two of water, wash my face and brush my teeth.

OTC: Tell me about your diet and workout routine

MAG: I workout 5x a week. Some mornings I do a quick starved cardio run for 20-30m to really jump start my metabolism. I am almost always on the mat with ankle weights or resistance bands, and all lunging, etc., is with body weight only.  If I am in Los Angeles you can find me at Barry's Bootcamp and Cycle House. They offer the best HIIT and cardio workouts I have ever had. If I am with my trainer, boxing is a must! As for diet, I will admit it can be tough, but I do my best to eat mostly fish and vegetables, lean meats, fresh fruit and healthy carbs like sweet potatoes and brown rice. I do love a good burger or some ice cream every now and then. Water is truly the most important. I am very good about drinking lots of water!

OTC: What are 5 things you can’t live without?

1) moisturizer

2) lip balm

3) body lotion

4) my phone and it's content (music, etc.)

5) books

OTC: What superpower would you have and why?

MAG: Teleportation. I would love to be able to pop in and say hello to family and friends whenever I feel like it. Throughout a lot of my career they have been far away from me.

OTC: What’s your scariest experience?

MAG: When I was about 12 or 13 my friend and I were walking on foot and were followed by a white truck. It was terrifying. We started running when they got out of the car with a flashlight... It was dusk. We began dodging in-between a few houses to reach her house faster. We called her Mom to meet us outside. It still kind of freaks me out!
