Kia Archer

I'm going to be honest with you, I have no idea how I found myself on Kia's Instagram. You know when you find someone on Instagram and end up scrolling all the way to their first post? Well, that's basically what happened. Something about her look just captivates you in a way I can't explain. Maybe it's the innocence, maybe it's the beauty, maybe I'm in love, but whatever it is, it's working for her! Check out the interview below:

OTC: What’s your name?

KA: Kia Archer

OTC: How old are you?

KA: 20 years young

OTC: How did you get into modeling?

KA: I actually began as a toddler, but I started getting extremely camera shy so my mother stopped taking me to castings. Then when I was 13, I’d gotten scouted at a local mall in Aventura, FL.

OTC: Who takes most of your pictures?

KA: Most of my pictures are taken by photographers, friends or even random people haha.

OTC: Are you signed to an agency?

KA: Yes, Elite in Miami and Twenty Model Management in Cape Town.

OTC: Who would you like to be signed to?

KA: Elite NY and Elite LA.

OTC: Where are you from originally?

KA: Born and raised in the county of DADE (Miami)!

OTC: What’s your strongest memory of your childhood?

KA: Tae Kwon Do! It’s one of the few things I genuinely enjoy doing.

OTC: If you could move anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

KA: Not sure yet, I still have the whole world to explore.

OTC: Do you travel a lot?

KA: Yes, I travel quite often because of this career. I’m forever grateful for the opportunities that I work hard for. Often times, I have to slow down a bit to thank the Universe for getting me this far.

OTC: Which country that you’ve been to is your favorite and why?

KA: Hands down, The Bahamas!! I’ve been to a few other countries but they don’t hit it for me like the Bahamas does. There's something about it that makes you feel content with everything.

OTC: Do you go to school? If so, what are you studying?

KA: Yes, Chemistry. I absolutely love science! I’m a little nerd :)

OTC: What has been your favorite photoshoot/campaign so far?

KA: Hmm… I’m tied between two. They literally happened a few days ago. GQ and Framesi.

OTC: Is having a good connection with the photographer important to you?

KA: Absolutely! If there isn’t a mutual understanding, the shoot won’t go well.

OTC: Who is your favorite photographer and why?

KA: Ugh. I’m torn between two. Tristan stop doing this to me. Haha! So, my 'LA Dad’ is the most fun photographer his name is Jason Flynn. He always gives me the images I need as well as the images I want. HIs images are usually the least retouched and I love that about his work.

Scott Teitler he’s literally my “photographer father’. He’s one of the sweetest and most gentle souls I know. He’s help me out a lot since I was about 16 and I’m so grateful that I’ve met him.

OTC: Do you have a special ritual you do before or after a photoshoot?

KA: I always make sure I drink plenty of water days before. You never know how long you’ll be posing in the sun. Ya know?

OTC: Have you made any friends in the modeling industry? How do you help each other?

KA: OH my goodness! The friendships we make in this industry are endless. Usually to help each other, we either give pointers or link one another with photographers, MUA’s, stylists, etc.

OTC: Do you practice poses or do they just come naturally to you?

KA: It all comes natural. I feel if you practice something, you're copying someone else's work. So, why not come up with your own naturally?

OTC: What’s the craziest thing you’ve done to get the perfect shot?

KA: Shooting in water with strong currents, 20 mph wind, and dangerous marine life. You know, nothing out of the ordinary.

KA: Ha! A makeup artist made me three shades lighter set.
