Joyce has quickly become one of my favorite models, in terms of her personality, as well as our connection when we shoot. She is bubbly and always ready to joke around, and when it's time to get the shot, she'll do whatever it takes! The photos in this post were taken in a very trendy bookstore here in LA, and then we made our way to Chinatown. We thought Chinatown would be empty, but we both forgot that it was the week of the Chinese New Year, so the streets were actually packed and there was a festival going on! OTC: What is your name?
JH: Joyce Htet
OTC: How old are you?
JH: Just turned 18! A newly minted adult, I am
OTC: How tall are you?
JH: 5’8.5”
OTC: How did you get into modeling?
JH: I applied to one of USC Photography Club’s annual Fashion Shoots last year as a model, jokingly because I didn’t think they would accept me (I was a high school junior at the time). But they did, to my surprise, and I found myself hooked on being in front of the camera!
OTC: What would you change about your personality & look?
JH: I would probably change how much I procrastinate, or how I let my emotions control my actions quite often. As or look, I’d love to be like a gooooood few inches taller to get that “edge” in the modelling industry.
OTC: Where are you from originally?
JH: Burma! Also known as Myanmar
OTC: Where, that you’ve visited, is your favorite country?
JH: I’ve only been out of the country a few times, and that was when I was a little kiddo to go back to Burma… so I don’t have too many memories from then. I’d have to say the U.S. would be my favorite by default.
OTC: Where would you love to visit, and what would you do there?
JH: I would love to visit France!! You already know I’d eat my way around the entire country hehe
OTC: What is the one place in the world you wish you lived in?
JH: I recently went to New York, and even though it was cold as shizzlenuggets, I really liked the atmosphere there and I’d love to go there again.
OTC: What is the one thing you want to experience before you die?
JH: Traveling around the world, to wherever I want and eating whatever I want.
OTC: Describe your dream vacation
JH: My dream vacation? Oof it would never end, honestly. It would be everywhere around the world, and I’d love to either go with my friends or possibly that special someone in my life.
OTC: What does “beauty” mean to you?
JH: Confidence in yourself and your look; owning who you are.
OTC: What makes you feel "sexy"?
JH: Oh definitely when I have some bomb lashes on with a nice smokey eye and a poppin outfit and heels. Preferably a red dress.
OTC: Which makeup product couldn’t you live without?
JH: My Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade. CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT THAT THANG cause fleeky brows are my trademark(;
OTC: What's your one top secret makeup trick?
JH: Well, if I told you, it wouldn’t be a secret anymore, now would it?
OTC: If you were stuck on an island, which 5 items would you NEED to have with you?
JH: Okay definitely the essentials.. Makeup, cute dresses, accessories…. No just kidding LOL I would need to have water, a lot (!!!) of food, something for shelter, some form of entertainment, and another human being because I’d be bored out of my mind stuck on an island, being by myself.
OTC: Who is your favorite model and why?
JH: Currently, it’s gotta be Ming Xi. She’s so cute and I will never get over how well she recovered from her fall during the VS show.
OTC: What’s the craziest thing you’ve done on a shoot?
JH: Probably one of our shoots HAHA, being in the middle of the sidewalk and flashing a bus full of people to get a sick levitation.
OTC: What did you dream about last night?
JH: I don’t remember, I was knocked out by the Benedryl the hospital gave me LOL.
OTC: Would you travel to another galaxy? And for what reason?
JH: YES! To confirm my suspicions that there are definitely other forms of life aside from humans.
OTC: What’s your favorite song at the moment?
JH: Definitely, hands down, Love Lies by Khalid and Normani
OTC: What kind of music do you mostly listen to?
JH: Mostly RNB, then edm, hip hop, and the usual basic pop songs.
OTC: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?
JH: Open my eyes(;
OTC: What is something you have tried, but will never do again?
JH: Bacon flavored soda. The absolute worst.
OTC: What quirky habit do you have?
JH: I feel like I have a lot of quirky things about me, but I do it so much it’s become normal in my mind
OTC: What’s your favorite season?
JH: Summer, because no school hehe
OTC: What kinds of things really make you laugh?
JH: A lot of things make me laugh! I laugh too easily sometimes, tbh.
OTC: What would you do on your last day on earth?
JH: Eat everything I’ve always wanted to eat and speak my mind freely, not caring what anyone thinks of me.
OTC: What is the one thing you did in your past you wish you could undo?
JH: Setting aside my priorities for someone who didn’t deserve it.
OTC: What is your biggest fear?
JH: Not being able to reach my full potential, or never finding that ‘one’ person.
OTC: What is your most prized possession?
JH: Either my phone, or my moleskine notebook.
OTC: What is the happiest memory from your childhood?
JH: I have a lot(,: probably spending time with my cousins and having a sleepover with them. I miss em a lot cause they’re living in Illinois currently.
OTC: What is the most embarrassing moment of your life?
JH: I have… way… way too many embarrassing moments.
OTC: Who has influenced you the most in your life?
JH: There isn’t a single individual, so probably my parents and my closest friends.
OTC: What is something you used to do as a child that you wish you could still do?
JH: Dance freely in the middle of the streets whenever I heard music (my parents told me many stories of this happening)!
OTC: What is the one movie that influenced your life the most?
JH: Legally Blonde, AS CHEESY AS THAT IS.
OTC: How would you describe your version of a perfect home?
JH: Filled with lots and lots of love, understanding, support. And many dogs.

JH: Definitely a night owl. I’m always up in the middle of the night to even the morning sometimes.

JH: Eating.

JH: Try the side part, your friends are right when they tell you a middle part is not your thing.

JH: To not give my heart away so easily.

JH: Opposite of the showerhead.

JH: HAHA funny! Good question. You’ll find me either eating with friends, or binging whatever new show I found on Netflix.

JH: Either going out on a shoot, or spending time with my friends exploring new places!
OTC: Would you rather model swimsuits or lingerie?
JH: Probably lingerie. The lacy tingz just make me feel like I look hot af HAHA

JH: I’m a sensitive lil human bean, even though I might act like I’m a boss ass bih at times, I’m actually probably really nervous doing just about anything LOL

JH: Well… I do at times, when it applies to me more than usual hehe

JH: Achieving that iconic status in my career, love, and unlimited food.

JH: Dogs!!!! There’s no question as to why?? They’re the cutest lil things ever!

JH: Probably my favorite hoodie, black ripped jeans, and my trusty converse high tops!

JH: If it’s more casual, I wear black ripped jeans, a really cute bodysuit, and a leather jacket with heels. If it’s more dressy, it’ll be a tight black dress with heels!

JH: Oof… It was a USC frat party and I got a little too lit.

JH: Yes I am!

JH: L O L yes, I used to use Tinder

JH: Funny, intelligent, kind, preferably tall, will feed me whenever and whatever I want, understands my meme and vine references, cares about family and morals, etc etc.
OTC: Describe your perfect first date
JH: Nothing really specific other than spending time with the other person and getting to know them more.
OTC: Do you have a “worst first date” story?
JH: LOL I’ve only been on three first dates and all of them went pretty well!
OTC: What is the worst thing about dating?
JH: Falling too hard too fast or overthinking.
OTC: Do you have any cringe-worthy stories of a guy’s failed attempt to pick you up?
JH: OH MY GOODNESS so many!! There was one time at the mall, I was with my friend and this guy came up to us and tried to get me to hold his hand by saying he had just tried this new lotion. It was just super awkward.
OTC: Where’s the best place for a guy to try and pick you up?
JH: I feel like anywhere is a good place if a guy can pull it off well.
OTC: Where’s the worst?
JH: Not a place, but when I’m with my family. Please do not hit on me when I’m with my parents and kid brother LOL
