Model Interviews

Hannah Rose Masi

Hannah, Hannah, Hannah. What to say about Hannah. I was stalking one of my favorite photographers, Jesse Herzog, and stumbled across this gem. She's the perfect balance between innocent and flirty. You look at her photos and feel like she's looking into your soul, and you have no choice but to fall in love. Sorry guys, she's taken! Check out the interview below:

OTC: What’s your name?

HM: Hannah Rose Masi

OTC: How old are you?

HM: 19!

OTC: How did you get into modeling?

HM: I've been modeling since I was about 8 years old, but it actually started with me wanting to act. I just told my parents I wanted to be in movies, and then they took me to an agency in Phoenix, where I was born, and it kind of just took off from there! Modeling was actually something that was on the side, in addition to acting.

OTC: Are you signed to an agency?

HM: I sure am, Vision in Los Angeles, and Supreme in New York. For acting I'm with Abrams Artists, east and west coast.

OTC: What’s your favorite thing about modeling?

HM: Meeting people with crazy creative minds. You come together with make up artists and stylists and photographers and everyone is there just to make a picture and get a feeling across, it's pretty cool actually.

OTC: What’s your least favorite thing about it?

HM: This business can be very negative if you don't have the right support system behind you... You really have to know yourself and be confident in yourself. Thankfully I have a handful of really amazing people in my life who look out for me.

OTC: If you didn’t model, what would you be doing right now?

HM: Ummmm... Oh gosh I'm not sure. Probably be in school? Ew!

OTC: Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

HM: In five years.... I don't know!? Why are these questions so hard!? Hopefully on a beach somewhere with dogs. Lots of dogs.

OTC: Do you get to travel a lot?

HM: I do!

OTC: How was your recent trip to Thailand?

HM: I learned a lot about myself in Thailand. It's stressful ya know, to go somewhere so far away by yourself, especially when you're so young. It was an eye opener for sure, I saw a lot of things that I had only read about and not actually experienced first hand. This world is a crazy, wonderful, amazing place. It really was one of my favorite things I've ever done. Going there was completely out of my comfort zone.. Which I think is really important to do every now and then. I met so many people who were from so many different countries, and now I have friends all over the world. I think traveling is so important, and if you're able to, do it. It's a really special thing to experience other people's culture.

OTC: Which country that you’ve visited is your favorite and why?

HM: French Polynesia. Is that a country? Idk I got my GED hahaha. But it was BEAUTIFUL! My best friend and I went a few years ago (not for modeling) and I'll remember it forever. The bluest water you've ever seen. Everyone in Bora Bora is so happy too! Must be something in their water.

OTC: If you could travel anywhere in the world for free, where would you go and why?

HM: I'm dying to go to Paris. I want to see what everyone's talking about. I want to experience the romance and the charm of France. Also, croissants. Obvi.

OTC: What advice would you give your younger self?

HM: Love yourself more, believe in your own light.

OTC: Is there any advice you would give to someone looking to get into the modeling industry?

HM: Don't trust the people who come up to you in malls, haha! Meet with agencies, figure out who you vibe with the most, and go for it! And - don't take it too seriously!

OTC: How do you feel about Instagram making you censor your nipples?

HM: Ugh. They're nips. Everyone's got em..

OTC: How do you take the perfect selfie?

HM: Lighting! All about the light!

OTC: What’s your go-to makeup brand?

HM: First, SPF! I use Neutrogena sunscreen, not to sound like the commercials... But it really is lightweight and non-greasy. NARs concealer, Maybelline mascara (blackest black), and in the summer time I use Fructis Garnier BB cream, it gives you a nice glow and keeps your skin hydrated. It also has a bit of SPF in it. I don't really wear that much make up, so I'm probably not the best to ask.

OTC: Who is your favorite photographer and why?

HM: My favorite photographer I have shot with is Stephanie Bassos. Not only are her images beautiful and her eye for detail amazing.. But she is the sweetest, most loving, fun person. We always have a blast when we get together to shoot. Too bad she lives all the way across the country though :(

OTC: Which photographer would you love to shoot with?

HM: Mario Testino. Helloooo where's my towel series!?!

OTC: Who is your favorite model and why?

HM: Well I have a few. One of them being one of my good friends Ali Collier. I mean it's actually annoying how beautiful she is, and she has a heart that matches. Gabby Lane, another model I've been lucky enough to become good friends with, she's one of those girls where you're just like "HOW DO YOU LOOK THE WAY YOU DO!" And again, the sweetest heart. Vision Los Angeles has the best girls, they really do. It's more than just what you look like, it's how you make other people feel about themselves, it really is what's inside that's important. Karlie Kloss and Chrissy Teigen. Putting their ridiculously perfect faces and bodies aside, Karlie sets a really good example for girls. She makes such a point about education and being kind, and I love that, I think it's really important. (Says the girl with the GED, lol) I also just want to be Chrissy's best friend. She is hilarious. I need her cookbook!!

OTC: Do you enjoy modeling high fashion or swimsuits more?

HM: I enjoy both, it's so fun to wear all the designer names, but bikinis are simple and make ya feel good. A designer bikini would be the perfect balance ;)

OTC: Tell me about your favorite bikini

HM: I don't have a fave, actually! I'm really picky when it comes to swimsuits.

OTC: Tell me something you’ve never told anyone before?

HM: I'm an open book honestly, I don't know if there is anything to tell that I haven't already?!

OTC: What’s your deepest darkest secret?

HM: Yeah nope, not that open I guess... Haha!

OTC: Where’s your favorite place to go in LA?

HM: Beach!

OTC: Do you go out a lot?

HM: Ehh not really, I'm a home body. I just really love my dog.

OTC: What do you do when you’re Off The Clock?

HM: I love working out (no, really I like to wake up and spin or box or go for a run... I'm a freak I know). I love to try new coffee shops, I'm really into coffee. My favorite place is Verve on melrose... 1 almond milk latte please!

OTC: What’s the first thing you do when you wake up?

HM: Take my dog to potty because if I don't I'll be sorry I didn't in about ten minutes. Ugh.

OTC: What are 5 things you can’t live without?

HM: Ayiyiy! 5 things. Okay. I would say my boyfriend and my family and my dog but they are not things and also my family is huge so I would already be at the limit if I included only my siblings. I can't live without my Clarisonic, warm showers, hair ties, PEANUT BUTTER, and a good pair of sneakers.

OTC: Would you rather read the book or watch the movie?

HM: Depends.

OTC: Do you have any tattoos?

HM: Nope.

OTC: If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

HM: Read people's minds. Or control people's minds.. That sounds really evil huh? Let's go with the first one..

OTC: What show are you watching on Netflix?

HM: Just finished Love.

OTC: Netflix or chill?

HM: Chill

OTC: What’s your guilty pleasure?

HM: PEANUT BUTTER and chocolate anything.

OTC: Tell me about your craziest night out

HM: Oh lord. Any night out with me and my best friend, Savvy, is gonna be a little crazy. And then it'll end with us having a sleepover with her two cats and my dog all in one bed, and probably a little bit of Grey's Anatomy. Because we're really good at being girls.

OTC: Drinker or smoker?

HM: Neither, I'm a lil goody good.

OTC: Do you have a favorite club in LA?

HM: Not really.

OTC: Are you single?

HM: Nope!

OTC: Describe your dream man

HM: Handsome. Smart. Listens. Can handle my sarcasm. Someone who likes adventure. Someone who introduces me to new things. Someone who makes me laugh. Someone who takes care of me. Someone who supports me. Someone who has his own thing going. Someone who's confident, in themselves and in me. Someone who gives me room to grow, and who wants to grow themselves.

OTC: Do you have a “worst first date” story?

HM: I do! I went on a date with this guy, who's name I'm not going to mention. He had me meet him at a restaurant that was an hour away from my apartment, but about 5 mins from his. And I kid you not, he was on his phone the entire time.. I'm not sure if it was out of nervousness or whatever, but we didn't speak, like it was the most awkward thing. I think there were about 25 words exchanged. But, I did give him a second date because I thought maybe it was just a "weird first date thing"... Yeah no was not gonna work out.

OTC: Where’s the best place for a guy to try and pick you up?

HM: Coffee shop? I dunno it doesn't really matter!

OTC: Where’s the worst?

HM: Like I said, doesn't matter! I mean probably not at an Urgent Care or something because it won't be very cute if you vomit on his shoes after he asks to take you to dinner, might really send mixed signals... I don't think it matters where you are. If you're attracted to someone, 100% go for it and see what happens. :)
